Dr. Genice Kirat Grande Acosta

SEMBLANCE

Dr. Genice Kirat Grande Acosta has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computing from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. She has a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering (Planning) with honorable mention, and a Ph. D. in Energy Engineering, both from the Master’s and Doctorate in Engineering Program of the UNAM. Since her Bachelor’s Degree thesis se is interested in the energy topic, particularly renewable energies. Currently she is an academic in the Energy Planning Group of the Renewable Energies Institute (IER) of the UNAM, and her research interests are modeling of energy systems for energy prospective, technical-economic evaluation of scenarios of climate change mitigation, and evaluation of energy projects. She has been a teacher of the Bachelor’s Degree of the Renewable Energies Engineering of the UNAM of subjects such as Costs, and Economic Engineering, and she has been teacher of the subjects Evaluation of Energy Projects, and Economy of the Energy of the Postgraduate in Engineering of the UNAM. She has participated in several research projects performed for national and international institutions such as the National Commission for the Efficient Use of the Energy, CONAVI and CONACYT, as well as international institutions such as the World Resources Institute, the World Bank, the Latin American Energy Organization, the European Union, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. She is co-author of the book “Towards a Low-carbon Mexican Energy System”, and of several indexed magazines articles in topics such as evaluation and optimization of mitigation costs of SO2 in the electricity sector. Biodiesel scenarios in the transport system, public policies in renewable energies, development and evaluation of scenarios of GHG mitigation for the electricity sector, the industrial sector, the chemical industry, and the transport sector. In 2014 she obtained the third place of the Sustainable Energy National Prize of the Mexican Association for Energy Economy, and the SENER. Currently she is a member of the National Researchers System with Level I, and also a part of the Mexican Bioenergy Network, and the Thematic Bioenergy Network.
